Fast Abs

I was in good enough shape, but I didn’t have that hard washboard look.

In fact, I had a pudgy stomach because all my body fat was in my stomach.

I used to hate how my stomach looked.  We would go to the beach, and I would hate to take my shirt off.  My arms and legs were fine, and I wasn’t overweight but I just looked pretty pudgy.  I really envied the guys with washboard abs because they would get all the girls.

I put a lot of effort into getting some fast abs.  I got pretty frustrated and in that frustration I learned a few things.  I learned that my core problem was I had too much body fat (above 15%).

I bought one of those ab roller things and darn near killed myself with stomach crunches.  This didn’t work.  I learned that even though my abdominal muscles were getting stronger, they were covered by body fat so you couldn’t see them.  Working out just the stomach area doesn’t get rid of the fat around the stomach, you have to get rid of all your body fat.

I learned that dieting doesn’t work.  Whenever I went hungry, my metabolism slowed down so I burned less calories and I didn’t lose any body fat.

I worked out like a dog on the stairmaster and treadmill, going to the gym every day and working out for 1 hour each day.  That didn’t work either!  My body burned calories when I was working out, but that wasn’t enough.  During the other 23 hours, I wasn’t burning enough calories because I wasn’t building up my muscles.   In fact, overdoing the cardio was tearing down my muscles. Building up muscles is what revs up your metabolism so you burn calories all through the day, without dieting.

So I couldn’t get rid of my darn gut.

I eventually figured out that I needed to workout smart and I also had to eat smart.  I started looking at a lot of stuff on the internet, including some workout programs.

Although a lot of them were scams, peddling steroids, diet pills, colon flushes, berries, and green tea, I did find one program that was full of solid information.

The site was full of testimonials by thousands of other people who had used this program to get the look they always wanted.  The price was cheap and they had a 2 month no questions asked money back guarantee.  So I figured, what the heck, how can I lose.  If I don’t lose the gut, I will get my money back.

I am glad I did.

The program is called “Truth About Abs”.

Well, the first thing I learned is that my workouts need to be smarter not longer. I only had to workout 3 times per week, for about 45 minutes at a time. I didn’t need to do any crunches at all.   And I didn’t have to diet, just eat healthy smart.

Here are some other tips I picked up from this program:

-Cardio – do this only 3 times per week (for 20 minutes each time).  If you use the treadmill, go fast for 60 seconds and then slow for 60 seconds.  Keep alternating for 20 minutes. This is called interval training and it burns fat like nothing else.

-Building Muscles – Do whole body exercises like squats, pull-ups, push-ups, bench press, curls, etc.  Work out only 3 times per week (for 25 minutes each time). This builds up most of your entire body with muscles which burns fat all the time.

-Drink a ton of water each day.

-Skip the colas, juices, diet drinks, energy bars, etc

-Sleep 8 hours every night. (You burrn more fat if you sleep 8 hours. No fooling).

-Eat lots of green stuff and raw vegetables (salads, spinach, broccoli, etc).

-Eat lots of fat burning foods (eggs, avocados, nuts, etc)

That’s about it.  No rocket science here.  Kind of boring actually.

But hey, it worked.  I went from 22% body fat to 14% body fat.  The fat just melted away from my stomach. Leaving me with fairly impressive looking abs.

My only complaint if you can call it that, is that this program didn’t promise and didn’t deliver instant results. My results took about 3.5 months.
